Metayo Huggins

Staff Sergeant Huggins S. Metayo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 12 March 2017 and attended training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Paris Island, South Carolina, graduating at the rank of Private First Class. He then reported to the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, for Marine Combat Training. Upon completion, he received orders to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he attended the Field Artillery Cannoneer Course and graduated on 30 September 2017, earning the Military Occupational Specialty of 0811 Field Artillery Cannoneer.

In October 2017, Staff Sergeant Huggins received orders to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California, where he served until 15 March 2021. During this period, he deployed to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, from April to October 2018 as part of the Marine Rotational Force -Darwin. He later deployed to Okinawa, Japan, from October 2019 to May 2020 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

In April 2021, Staff Sergeant Huggins received orders to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, where he was assigned to Officer Candidate School and The Basic School. During this tour, he served as the Officer Candidate School Police Sergeant, Officer Candidate School Physical Training Instructor, and as an Instructor at The Basic School. He remained in Quantico until 1 April 2024.

On 1 May 2024, Staff Sergeant Huggins received orders to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, where he currently serves as the Nemesis Section Chief, 3d Littoral Combat Team, MMSL Battery, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment.

Staff Sergeant Huggins professional military education includes Corporals Course (December 2019), Sergeants Course (March 2021), Career Course (April 2025), and completion of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Black Belt.

Staff Sergeant Huggins is married to Simone Louise Huggins of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
