Professional Bio
Major Jeremy Tomaino was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned his commission as a second lieutenant in the Field Artillery from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. His Field Artillery assignments included Platoon Leader, Battery Executive Officer, Company Fire Support Officer, and Brigade Assistant Fire Support Officer. He served as a Battalion Fire Support Officer in the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team (Light Infantry), and deployed to Mosul, Iraq, in 2017. Major Tomaino also served as a battery commander in the 5th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, and later as an observer/controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana. In 2021, Major Tomaino transferred to the Foreign Area Officer (FAO) Corps as a Sub-Saharan Africa FAO. He graduated from the Defense Language Institute’s French Basic Course and the Joint FAO Course before completing graduate studies and intermediate-level education through the Naval Postgraduate School and Naval War College. He completed his yearlong In-Region Training while assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Botswana. Following Joint Military Attaché School, Major Tomaino moved with his family to N’Djamena, Chad, where he is currently assigned as the Assistant Army Attaché at the U.S. Embassy. Some of his awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Department of State Meritorious Honor Award, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Army Air Assault Badge. He is also a recipient of the Field Artillery Association’s Honorable Order of Saint Barbara. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University, and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School. Major Tomaino is married to the former Myonghee Park. They have an eight-year-old daughter named Joy.
